Mi Fa Music & Art School offers small class sizes where children participate in group activities and actively play with instruments. Our instructors use a blended approach of proven pedagogies, such as the Suzuki Method, Orff, and Kodály solfège, to focus on listening, singing, and rhythmic skills. These classes prepare childen to transition to private lessons in order to focus on individual instruments, such as the piano, guitar, or violin.
This class is designed for toddlers who are ready to explore the essential elements of rhythm, musical direction, dynamics, and tempo through active participation in group activities. Led by our expert instructors, with small class sizes ensuring individual attention, children delve into the world of music using the xylophone as their primary instrument, alongside other percussion instruments, at the beginning of their musical journey.
As children progress, whether continuing to build on their musical experience or just starting out, this class offers a comprehensive exploration of rhythm, song, various musical instruments, movements, and improvisation. In addition to mastering the xylophone, children begin singing solfège and join the children’s choir while also delving into songwriting and discovering different musical genres.
For our After School and Daycare programs, a Mi Fa instructor travels to your child’s school or daycare to provide on-location instruction, either once the school day is done or during daycare time. Bands and ensembles allow students to take their talents to the next level. Playing with others improves musicianship in all areas and allows students to enjoy the music they make. As a milestone to work toward, school-wide recitals are the perfect chance for students to share their music with friends and family.
The best way to find out is to try. Your instructor at Mi Fa will help you find the best kids music class for your child. Because we focus on letting the kids have fun in our group classes, children are usually very excited to return.
While there are always exceptions, we strongly recommend group classes for children five and under. For older children, individual lessons are usually more appropriate.
